A beautiful pair of Mikimoto pearl earrings and a necklace were presented to the newly crowned Miss BVI Sharie DeCastro, as the first pageant heirloom on August 16th at the Little Switzerland store in Road Town. The store is often visited by tourists staying in one of the many nearby BVI VACATION rentals.
The Manager of Little Switzerland Josiah Russel, said his company is happy to collaborate with the Tourist Board on such a great initiative, stating that the now sentimental piece can be worn by Miss BVI to various events both locally and internationally.
Tourist Board Representative Kevis Hughes explained that the venture was more than a year in coming and noted that he had the pleasure of selecting the heirloom piece. Hughes said that he drew inspirations from pageants such as Miss Universe and wanted the piece to have symbolism and meaning.
“Mikimoto” is a name not only associated with the leading Japanese Pearl Jewelery House, but is also internationally respected for quality, expert craftsmanship and customer service.
