In a spectacular display of young elegance and beauty, 16-year-old Ashellica Fahie walked away with the coveted crown of Miss Teen BVI 2011.
The pageant took place on Saturday night at Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium of the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College under the theme ‘Through My Eyes’, where Fahie outdid her other four competitors.
Apart from her crown, Fahie secured the title of Best Dress and Miss Popularity, Miss Poise and Best Cultural Costume. The winners will receive $3,000.00, $1,500.00 and $1,000.00 scholarship awards, respectively. And will also be afforded the opportunity to participate in regional and international pageants in the year ahead.
Doniesha Maduro Findlay whose platform was Child Abuse and Kimberly Herbert with her platform of Youth Empowerment, were sashed first and second runners up respectively. Findlay was also voted as Miss Congeniality, Miss Photogenic and Best Talent, while Jemesha Nibbs was adjudged the Most Determined to Succeed.
Fahie, with a presentation on the Adverse Effects of Teenage Pregnancy, joins a long line of successful young beauties in the BVI, the most recent being her predecessor Miss Sylvanna Charles who is the first BVI beauty to secure the coveted Caribbean Talented Teen crown.
This is the ninth successful year of the Miss Teen BVI pageant.
