The second annual Superyacht Regatta took place at the Yacht Club, Costa Smeralda, Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, and saw two racing days of beautiful conditions with clear skies, with moderate seas and winds.
The second day of racing, saw the stunning J Class 138′ yacht, Hanuman, move up one position to snatch the lead from the Wally 100. Indio was now in second place, and P2, Perini Navi build Philippe Briand design, is holding on to third place.
The committee sent the fleet on a similar course to the first day’s race, but in a counter-clockwise direction. The course took the fleet west to the Dog Islands and then south to Round Rock to the east of Ginger Island, east along the south side of Virgin Gorda, before rounding Pajaros Point heading towards the finish.
Eventually, Hanuman crossed the line first, followed eleven minutes later by the 115′ Farr Yacht Design, Sojana. 163′ Salperton, built by Fitzroy Yachts was third over the line. P2 beat the Classen Shipyards 115′ Firefly, to the line by 19 seconds for fourth place and the Wally 100, Indio was fifth to sail over the line. After corrected times were calculated, Hanuman took the day with Indio second and P2 third.
